Oh my! Who would think to create their art on a live tree?
These are so different and very clever.
Not that I am thinking of going out and changing the life of a tree !!!
One way of creating a canvas I suppose!
Would be quite a talking point "at a day in the park".

Isn't it fabulous - I don't want you going out getting arrested in your local park now Katy :-) resist the temptation - although I have a lovely birch in the back garden that lends itself to a bit of carving.... te he

off to sharpen my tools

Carver carver spare that tree
Touch not a single bough.
It's life it needs
And so do we
Please let it keep its 'now'.

Whilst the carving is fabulous, I trust that it was done on a section of the bark that had died away or perhaps the tree is dead and somebody stuck on the foliage with a bit of computer image juggling.

I'm off today to the Victorian Festival at Llandrindod Wells with my 'World of Water' cap on. There, Captain Chainsaw has carved one lake-side (dead?) tree into a Llandoddie (One of the regions famous 'Ancient Water Keepers' and subject of a recently published fictional (?) study)

All best,

Sounds interesting Grant.
Are we going to see some photos on your return?
Chain saw artworks can be quite intricate.
I have a leaf shaped dish carved from a piece of swamp Kauri
which I treasure. In NZ there is a lot of swamp Kauri that
the wood turners love to get their hands on.
Have a great trip.
