Has anyone tried the air dry paper clay? I haven't yet. I've read that it is light weight and dries quickly. I believe it can be bought at Michael's craft store.

Hi Mary, I have added a video showing air dried paperclay in action for making jewelry. Is this a similar brand to the one at the Michaels craft store you mentioned?

Hi Di, It sounds like it. I've never used it or even seen it. Is it what you use? I thought you used clay that had to be fired.

No i don't use this kind of paper clay, I use the paper fibres mixed with clay (ceramics), it an be left to air dry and painted, sealed with varnish etc for craft projects, great for kids craft projects, but i fire in a kiln or in a pit fire ;>)

You can find paper clay at craft 2000 and Michael's. You can find it in the clay department. It's great to work with and dries hard. Check out my site and you'll see some of the things I made with paper clay. I love the stuff. Just remember one thing if you decide to work with it, keep it in a zip lock baggie while working with it or it will dry out. If some of it does get hard just put it in a baggie a put a sprinkle of water on it. It will be pliable to work with again. Another thing, if you want to make sculptures with this product make a strong base with wire, wood, Styrofoam, or even floral oasis. Have fun. Corbin

Notice: The air dry clay called Knead-0 is no longer available. I was told that the company went bust. Was sorry to hear this. Their air dry clay was better than the creative paper clay. It didn't have the grainy texture that the Creative paper clay has. Oh well. If you can't find the Creative paper clay in a nearby craft store you can find it on line at Creativepaperclay.com

You can get the air dry paper clay from the web site creativepaperclay.com
The best one to use is the Pearl paperclay. It works very well in molds, to shape, carve. etc

Hi I have just started using Air Dry Clays although 25 years ago in the days of salt dough craft I also worked with a cold porcelain. That is what I am working on now with my preference being home made cold porcelain (air dry clay). I have tried Elfaplast light which is good and also Deco, but because of the current financial situation it is terribly expensive to import it here in Aus. I got a fantastic recipe for cold porcelain off the web and if it is permitted I could let you have the link to the site. I am just finding my way around this forum and have posted some of my very amateur attempts at flowers so far. There are very few books on air dry clays for flower making so I am using pictures and methods found in cake decorating. Hugs Joyce
