Paula Mae and I have been discussing costuming and Diane sent me a message that others might want to join in. Feel free to do so. You can catch up on our dialogue at either members sites.

Hi Ron..
Glad to receive replies from you = )
Well I see that it's hard for you to find your portfolios knowing that your place is filled with art stuff = D but if you find it, just save it don't lose it again..it's a precious works of yours.
I haven't tried anything yet, I'm not in the mood for crafting right now, I don't know why..I've borrowed the taiwan's miniatures craft book from my friend, many cute things there such as miniatures of sushi or grilled fish, there's also flowers and fruits so cute...= ) anyway, if I get my mood back I'd like to finish my female figurine, maybe I'll buy soft clay too to simplify the making of the wavy hair. Right now, all I want is have some time to relax..we've just finished doing costumes for show, quite a hectic days lately = ( Well I did some felt dolls making, I've tried to make stuffed dolls using fabrics but I couldn't sew it right so I think it's easier to sew felt fabrics just like the bunny I made = )
When the figurine's finish, I'd love to post the picture here.
Anyway Ron, you've given me many great websites for recommendation..thank you very much = )
Wow stunning pics . So inspirational .

hi there^^

the theme caught me fast^^....well you see i like what mae says "Being a part of them is a pride isn't it? I mean, the man behind all this." sometimes not everybody appreciate the makers of a costume (like in my hometown) they only saw the costume it self without knowing who made it and it makes me sad....but i like when someone acknowledge the creation i feel so happy^^

i also like to see many costumes and sometimes tried to draw them but i feel not so confidence to publish them....I'm kinda being influenced by Japanese comic makers on making costume, i like Gothic style, some times medieval or supernatural styles^^ (people says i am too much living in a comic book)

and to Mr Ron i like your clown^^ (it makes me kinda in the mood to create something, maybe a joker if you don't mind) i like the character like clown or joker (even though i don't know the reason behind this but i love the character).

Hello Omittchi,

Thank you for writing. I take it you are a friend possibly of Mae. If so, tell her I said hello.

Omittchi, do not let others discourage you from creating the types of things you are into. Most people do not understand creative thinkers. Your style and looks will change over time as you begin to find new sources of inspiration. Our thinking changes over time and this leeds us all to new and different ideas, approaches etc. In the meantime you will only get better and better at what you do....by doing. Think of it all as a lifetime of practice.

I understand your feeling about others viewing your costumes and work and never knowing the person behind the creation of them or what kind of processes go into them. that's just the way it is. Most people are terribly under-educated to the arts. They really can't even begin to think about how something was done. They more or less just take things for what they are and do not stop to consider that somebody thought of it and worked at it and solved all of the problems involved in executing it. I do not look to others for praise or glory. I know when I have done well on any particular project and always realize that I can do better maybe the next time. Usually this attitude garners me praise from others withought seeking it. Just do your utmost best and people will notice. If not, so be it. I put my heart and soul into my work and I guess it does come across on a sublimal level to others.

I am happy to hear that the Jester (Jack in the Box) costume has inspired you. If you search the internet (Google Images) you will find all kinds of jokers. The Tarot cards have wonderfull pictures for inspiration as do Rennaisance and Italian circus clowns etc. Actually, inspiration is all around us all the time. You just need to look and see. I usually do a lot of research before beginning my projects. I like to find and see a proverbial wharehouse of related items and then have lots to pick and choose from...a little of this, a little of that etc. All of the images I view eventually lead me to what it is I am hopeing to accomplish. It is a good way to develope your own style and look. A style of your own will come forth from all of the different looks your mind has taken in.

I wish you well my friend and do keep creating. I look forward to your continued posts on this site. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to write.

Regards,
Ron Gutman
