Oh Katy, this is beautiful. What a very special cake that is. Do you do make the cake as well as the toppings?

Reply to This

No Di. I have not been making the cakes.
I just cover the cake with Royal icing, decorate the sides,
bottoms with piping work and create the flowers to finish it off.

Katy, it's the outside that makes the cake special - I wouldn't want to cut into this it's so gorgeous!!

The wedding industry is big business, a great start up business for those so inspired.

The decorative pieces can all be lifted off.
The top flowers are sitting on a plaque so the couple could transport it home to China.
I have been thinking about doing to sell but can't get ahead of what I am doing at the moment. Definitely "Food for thought"

It really is gorgeous, I hope they packed your flowers carefully for the trip! Yes, it is definitely 'food for thought' as a business - and such a wonderful memento for the couple to keep. :>) lovely Thanks for sharing, Di

I love this idea of the couple having an everlasting keepsake from their cake :)

Yes Val.
The couple were delighted to be able to take it back to China for their ceremony there with the bride's family.

I really want to have a go at this but I don't think my flowers or whatever will come out looking like they should, I am not that artistic, I will probably have to copy something when I try it out. Do you have any tips Katy?

First of all Val. Have you got the recipe for making the base paste?
Second. Have you done any Cake icing decos?
I am endeavouring to do a video on making roses but there sites that can guide you.

There are other sites and I will hunt them out for you, over the weekend.
Cheers
Katy
