A small portion of commissioned Orchid painting. Sorry I can't show the whole picture as it is a personal piece.
I am pleased with how it looks finished and would love to have it framed how I see it.
Should we start up an Artists Forum, do you think?
Enjoy.

What lovely, delicate work,Katy. It is difficult to get the depth of colour in red.Have you seen Susan H.Tustain's work?i bought her video and found it very interesting-she dampens the paper and applies paint, then builds up layer after layer, drying in between.Other artists whom i admire apply one coat quickly, work into the wet paint, then will not touch it again.
I wonder whether to put my paintings on my page or here.
I painted the background for some floral work and it is on page 17 of June's 'Floral Design' magazine.

Thank you Marion. I would love to see your paintings
No I haven't seen Susan H Tustain's work. Sounds like an interesting application with everything wet. That would make me feel nervous and most likely out of control if I tried it !!
Floral Design magazine sounds interesting too. I will google it and see if it comes up.
Really cold and heavy showers today, but it is winter.
Have a happy day

Hi-I was brave and put on three paintings-they are waiting approval apparently. You can see that I like a minimum amount of colours-mostly Burnt Sienna and Raw sienna mixed with French ultramarine.I like painting wet,but it has its moments-(of course some happy accidents as well!)
My family is meant to be driving up from Wellington leaving 7pm-about a 6 hour journey, with the three little ones asleep in the car. However the Desert road is closed so they will leave it till tomorrow.
Hugs to you

Katy, it's gorgeous. The red is perfect against the greens. You know your flowers :-) Watercolor is quite a skill, yet another one in your arsenal of talent. thanks for showing this too Di

Thanks Di. I should do a lot more water colors as once I start a new piece I find I enjoy 'making it happen'

Hi Marion.
Yes, thinking back I actually met Susan H T at a Hamilton show some years back when she was just at the crest of her career. I could see then that she was destined for fame. Her work is just devine. I love it.
Hope all is well down there.
Cheers
Katy
