Member, Ron, got me interested in the soft clay, check out some of Ron's comments and posts (what hasn't he tried) :>)

Anyway on a trip to our local craft store yesterday I found the efa plast clay which is another version of the softclay that Ron mentioned - so I've got a couple of packs to try out. I have made a quick finger piched rose so far and it's just like modeling with marshmallows only wthout being sticky - lovely stuff to work with.

Thanks for recommending it Ron, I will let you know how I get on with it and if worth photographing I will do (ok even if not worth photographing I will anyway)!! :>)

Hi Diane, Been so busy that I haven't checked the site out for awhile. Funny, just last night I was in the Michaels craft store and was looking to try the Efa Plast clay (web site had it but not the store). I do believe it is similar to the Decoart clay. Does it dry to a cast paper like finish? Another, that is similar, that I tried is Delight clay...works pretty good . Crayola has one...but does not dry the same and breaks easily. Found some of the Thai and Japanese Luna clay...hasn't arrived yet.
Finally broke down and put out the money for the Martha Stewart 'Duplex' crepe paper...it's lovely. still waiting to hear back from 'Castle In The Air' about the crepe paper. guess I'll have to call long distance. I think they have the same type of duplex that Fred Aldous ( you supplied me their web address) has. Seems all overseas shipping has increased tremendously because of the oil etc. So no foreign art supplies, at least for now.
Will be making a dozen paper irises for my niece's house warming.
Try your Efa Plast for these-See attachments for making Roses and Stephanotis. Note: (Steph. instructions) If you cut the clay into fours instead of fives you can make violets or hydrangeas (round toothpick works good for rolling petals also the end of a round fine chop stick or for the real deal purchase cell sticks from sugarcraft (cake/fondant/gumpaste) suppliers.
Also for larger roses just add more petals. Have fun!

Hi Ron, Glad to hear you have been busy. The Efa Plast clay is fabulous, rolls nicely and thinly, not sure that the color choices are brilliant, in the local store at least, the pink isn't really very pink, more terracotta pink.

Yes, they have dried like cast paper - very light indeed. I used paint brush handles for rolling.

I'll do some 'proper' flowers later - thanks for the instructions!! I'll give them a go.

I looked for some carta crespa but nothing locally, not even the duplex paper! Oil prices are affecting everything it appears! Let us know how the Luna Clay goes when it arrives :>)

Just a thought Elfaplast LIGHT is the best to use for flowers there is Elfaplast standard that doesn't give the same results. Thought I'd mention it as I got it wrong the first time around. Hugs Joyce
