Katy, sorry am I being dim - do you mean it is more flexible with the glycerine added?

Curious to know how things are going with those of you who have become CP addicts, like me?
In the recipe I posted there was not Glycerine added. I have done a mix with this now and find that the finished piece is more flexible. I guess I will use both for different projects. The Jade pieces were all done with the glycerine in the base paste, even the stamens on the camellia.

How did you folk get on with the making of your Cold Porcelain paste with the wood glue?
I have made a few batches from the wood PVA glue and I can't say I like it. The School PVA gives a much better end result on the finer side of things.
A couple of points;
1) You can soften the paste down if it has cooked too hard. Run through warm water as you re-knead it or mix with some soft paste from another mix.
2) If your paste is sticky pop it in the microwave for no more than 5 seconds seconds at a time until it firms up.
Cheers
Katy

I made some sample/trial leaves with the glue based cold porcelain - and used them yesterday for press marking into clay - the leaf vein effect worked wonders creating feathered effect wings - for adding onto a clay angel. I just love the way different crafts can cross over :-)

I love soft pastels Ron, however if used on cold porcelain, I assume it would need sealing? What would you seal it with?

Diane,
I don't know how I get so much done. The bouquet I just posted on the Photos page I made for my 95 yr. old aunt who lives in a nursing home. It was a Mother's Day Gift.
I still have my day job...ugh!
Back to your questions: I dust pastel chalks (the kind that comes in little cakes, but I suppose any soft pastel would do) on with a brush. Really gives that soft look of pollen etc. They can also be painted with oils, watercolor or acrylics. The flowers will last indefinetly however avoid strong sun and water. Posted in AirDry group info on the clay.

Your work is wonderful Ron, how on earth do you get so much done :>) - when you say 'soft clay' what type of soft clay is it? And what do you 'dust' on - are these special dusting powders. Oh I think I need to give up my day job to try all these wonderful things out :>)

Flowers 200010001.JPGFlowers 700010001.JPGFlowers 200010001.JPGHello,
Just bought some cold porcelain but haven't tried it yet. Any tips or hints would be appreciated.
I have been doing flowers with soft clay...see photos. By the way, Diane, for the soft clays I mix the base colors into white, then form/sculpt, and when dried then paint or dust for detailing.
