Thanks for prototyping offer but forge temp. may reach a white to yellow heat around 1400°C to 1600°C (I think). Stoneware's around 1300 °C. When we did the prototype forge we had a red to orange so probably reached around 1200°C. Whilst Alastair'...

Just used up last bit of Diane's paper clay on a new Forge at HoBB

Paper clay forced between cracks in old roof tiles used to line bottom of a smithy's forge.

By next week, I'll know how paper clay holds up to temperatures of 1400 + degrees C as I charcoal fire the new HoBB Forge for the first time. Building a forge was the idea of a recent Wwoofer (www.wwoof.org) who visited the HoBB. He's left now to help in the building an oak frame house in the Wirral (Nr. Liverpool UK) but the 'Alder Forge' remains ... soon ready to 'forge' new works in metal if the whole… Continue

Hooray!!

Your dusty cobwebs have been freshly washed away - and new "Elf Wet Socks" pegged out to dry too. Such progress, we are honoured :-)

Feather duster duly back in holder and subject to bi-annual review - we can't wait another year before we see more from you :-)

After receiving a message like the one below from you, it is hard to hold back the tide of "Will do". I've almost managed a full year without uploads but I can resist your request not a minute longer so replace that feather duster in its holder.

All best

Thank you for responding Grant.
The book is complete. Proof read and illustrated.
I have put it together as a presentation but feel it needs a heavier cover and the binding is just those steel ring bindings.
(Which doesn't look professional.)
I am probably best to find a publisher here in NZ and pick their brains !
Just my thoughts.

Katy

Hi Grant.
Diane has suggested I hone in on your expertise with regards to publishing as she says you know a lot about many things !!!.
I am not sure if this could work with me being way down under tho'
Have you any do's and don't's that I should know?
Cheers
Katy

Hi Corbin. The garden creations are a blend of sculpt, wildlife habitat, support for plantings, delineation of underground habitats, 'outlined' natural forms, plant circus and topiary. Pictures do little to communicate the spirit of our location but I have recently been looking at the way photographers have 'captured' on film the Palace of Katsura, Japan, and this might be a good way of tackling our landscape.

Hi Grant, what kind of things do you create for your garden? Would love to see some pictures!

Whoops, I didn't create the outdoor sculptures. The photos are of a place I visited. The photos are just examples of the kind of photos I take. Sorry about that.
For now, I only create small figuines like the ones on my page, of holiday and everyday characters. I would like to create some outdoor sculptures someday but I dont have the space to do that right now.
Yep, I know all to well about sweat shops that send products that flood the market. I wish there was a better market for artist who want to sell one of a kind items like the ones I make. I tried Ebay but I spent more time on the computer than I did making my figurines. UGH! I'll never do that again.

Di said I should send you a message to check out my pictures. So come on over. Let me know what you think. She also said you might be able to point me in the direction for creating market interior designs for companys. I would prefer to design figurines like the ones I have on my page. If you have any suggestions, I am all ears.
