Thanks again.
Some of the flowers are done with the new soft clay called Deco clay. (Most of my pics have a description under them if you go to the photos tab rather than the slide show). They are the first ones I experimented with. Then I discovered the ultimate...Japanese Luna clay and Thai clay. This gives the most realistic results. It's consistency is like cold porcelain clay but it drys to a flexible finish instead of a hard finish. The clay is tinted with artist oil paints and after drying are painted/shaded with the oils again. The clay can be put through a pasta machine at the thinnest of settings and still maintain it's shape. The parts are then sculpted, frilled and veined. I do wire all the petals and leaves with very fine paper covered wire. Because I work six days a week at a regular job and teach a ceramics class 1 night a week my productivity is very limited. No, no galleries...most items are purchased via word of mouth or used as gifts. I do a few scattered shows here and there and wish I had more time to devote to things...but, the bills have to get paid! I have won several national awards and many accolades for my work over the years. I would like to get a website up but seem to sell everything before I can show anything. Maybe when I hit retirement, I'll be able to devote myself to things more fully. If you are interested in any of the materials used and if you search around on my page and conversations you can find where to get things. let me know if you need assistance.
