First off, you don't look old enough to be a grandma. I checked out your work and I have to say, I'm a baby in this craft arena compared to you. Time has been my enemy, you know how it works, lots of things you want to do and never enough time to get to them. I'd love to share ideas, inspiration, techniques and any resources we can. I've mostly been buying books and combing the net and then adapting what I find, adding in my own ideas to come up with stuff for the kids.
So far we've done our names - I gave each child the same materials and told them they can make a card, bookmark, sign etc with the only stipulation that it have their name on it. It was really an exercise for them to be able to express their creativity and identity by 'making their name' so to speak. That was a huge success. We also did a little origami, made a shirt, it was a bit of slow going but everybody got it eventually. Right now we're working on Mother's Day projects. The older girls are making a 180° pop up card in the shape of a house. The house opens flat and both sides are connected by a spiral which has quotes written on it and hearts and butterflies and photos adhered to it. I'll post photos as soon as we are done. The other group are doing miniature chinese food take out boxes and I'm bending the wire for the handles and we're putting fortune cookies inside with the greeting on it. The next project for my big girls will be a rain stick and as I said, I'll post pictures as I go along. What do you think so far?
Thanks Nicole, how great to be teaching the young ones, you are bound to have some fun with them. I'll be adding a few kids craft projects over coming weeks which may be useful to you. Members here are all fabulously friendly, so please do connect with them. Have fun Di :>)
Hi Nicole, a warm welcome to art hobby crafts, lovely warm smile you have. Paper and Wire, sounds brilliant, what do you create? Look forward to finding out more about your work. regards Diane
