6 Steps to Creating Seaweed and Driftwood Craft Arrangements : Part Two by Shaquayla

Part Two:

Continued from Part One of 6 Steps to creating seaweed and driftwood arrangements.

dyed mixed media
STEP 4

Sea Sponges, Driftwood, shells:

After they are dyed with dylon clothes dye, in the washing machine:

I lay them out on an old trampoline in the sun to thoroughly dry.. The items photographed are thoroughly dry.

dried mixed media
STEP 5

spray with a good fly/spider spray (optional) to kill any gremlins/bugs/ that have survived the process and to rid the items of any bugs/spiders that may have taken a liking to them whilst drying outside.

This is not necessary, but I live in a rental home and try my best to keep it clean and spider free, as I bring these items indoors to store and work with over the next few month's.

So the spray discourages cockroaches and spiders.

STEP 6

These are your finished dyed sponges.

They can be cut with scissors or used whole to make seaweed and sponge arrangements.

Add your sponges to driftwood, arrange other mixed media craft items and you can create a stunning display.

Fabulous Tutorial Shaquala, thanks for sharing this - I'll be trying this out in spring/summer, its far too cold here at the moment for 'drying on the trampoline' :-)
