A Crafter's Real Happiness

I saw shining eyes when the first time my friend looked at an orange T-shirt with words 'URBAN VELO' written on it. I painted those words with a drawing replicated from a picture taken from the internet. My friend asked me to do that. Seeing his gladness made me happy.

We are happy if someone is satisfied with our work. This feeling is invaluable. This experience makes us more enthusiastic to try more difficult and complicated designs.

Although replicating artwork is not my main interest, I think it has a special challenge. We must be more careful with this work. Using fabric for painting presents a bigger challenge than paper. We can't easily replace with new fabric if any mistake happen. It's price more expensive than paper's. The challenge lie on the resemblance with the original. To do the detail parts, sometimes we need to restrain our breath to make our scratch line stable. But, if this work finish and successfull, a happiness feeling will catch us. More difficult thing we can do, more and more happiness will grow.

It will happen with all kind of artwork process. Sometimes we do not believe with certain quality of artwork we can do. Than it will be a work that gives satisfaction. That is the crafter's real happiness.

I too share the same feelings. The glow in the eyes of the beholder gives great joy to the heart of the Giver of Handcrafted things

I painted and made the kids bedroom curtains when they were younger, I think I held my breath throughout :-) They looked great when they were finished though.
