As a full time sea glass artisan and life long sea glass collector, I wanted to share the hunt with others. I recently created the site “The North East Sea Glass Society”. Our group is made of New Englanders who have discovered the beauty and the allure of authentic sea glass.

Beautiful sea glass jewelry starts with a beautiful piece of sea glass. Our mission is to hunt the beaches of New England that have been known for sea glass in the past. Sea glass also known as seaglass or beach glass is discarded glass trash that has been tossed into the sea. It takes decades, scores or even longer to evolve into a piece of sea glass that is worthy to be used in jewelry. Less tumbled sea glass is often used in mosaics and other crafts, however, in my opinion only perfectly frosted sea glass merits jewelry art. What is so special about sea glass is that is has a story. Beautiful in color, texture and intrique these ocean gems have so much history as well. A piece of jewelry made with sea glass becomes a conversation piece as well as something we adorn ourselves with.

We have had four sea glass hunts in New England in the last month. All have proved to be successful. All have proved to be exciting. The cohesiveness of our group appears to be innate. We are without a doubt kindred spirits. Several of our members are budding artists and some are hunters and collectors only. We are all called to the same experience, the hunt!

Please feel free to pay our little site a visit. If you are geographically connected, you are welcome to join and join us for a sea glass hunt.

Stay tuned… next blog is about the different types of sea glass.

Thank you ladies! Making sea glass jewelry is fun it takes on a whole new dimension to making jewelry with the many different shapes and textures of the glass. Earrings can be challenging trying to find two pieces close in color, shape and size for pairs, but that is part of the fun.

Oh I'd never heard of this before. The jewelry is really lovely. I can imagine the fun had making the beach finds too!

Hi Danielle, Sea Glass hunting seems to be a very popular hobby and pastime and such beautiful finds. A great hobby for keeping fit walking along the shores. I finally found your new sea glass community site . All I need to find now is a decent beach :-)

Look forward to your next article and seeing more of your gorgeous sea glass jewelry.
