Yep.
Color with white acrylic artist paints, for an opaque result, and then add other colors of choice. For Translucent results just add colors of choice of above paints. Mold your piece and leave to air dry. There will be some shrinkage in the drying.
The Recipe for Cold Porcelain;
1 Cup Cornflour.
1 Cup PVA Glue. We mostly used the School PVA.
2 Tablespoons Baby Oil.
1 Teaspoon Eucalyptus Oil.
1/2 teaspoon Citric Acid (Preservative)
Place all in a bowl (Microwave) or a NON STICK Pan and mix to smooth.
Microwave: for 1 1/2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, taking care not to over cook it. Should be thickening and a little spongy.
Pan Cooking; Stir over medium heat until mixture consolidates and leaves the sides and bottom of the pan.
Let cool a little to handle and then knead until really smooth, 5 to 7 minutes. (That's the hardest part !!!)
To colour the paste use any Acrylic or oil artist paints.
Have fun.
Katy

Hi Kathleen if you want to add images go to the photos menu tab at the top of the page. Follow the instructions to upload an image. It then gets approved, so there is a little delay.
ALSO: Look for to upload an image inside a comment box, when you write comments and want to show them to that person. Hope that helps, Di :-)
Kathleen welcome to the group. I have not been on in a few days as I had to teach this weekend at my house. Had a blast, Jump in and look around. Hugs, Kat Lees
I added you as a freind also.
Quite different I think.
The base of the Cold Porcelain is Cornflour and PVA glue. No firing required as it air dries. Absolutely lovely to work with and great results.
Cheers

Yes Kathleen, for the most part I am self taught but.......I read a lot of books. I have been going to water colour classes but after the first term, it was more about sharing a love of the medium than what I gained from the tutor. It also reinforced that anyone can do anything if they have an open mind.
Yes it is on Grownups lol, in the mosaic thread, I did it for the local Primary school, just got to seal the grout over the holidays and take it down to the school in the first week back. My grandaughters class is creating a succulent garden by the office for the sign to go in :)
Hi Kathleen, thanks for your comments about my polymer clay work, yes it is like Fimo, at the moment I am using Sculpey Premo. I haven't really tried selling my work yet, I have been thinking of putting some on Ebay - will eventually get around to it. Last night I started a little goblin man in pc clay, he is not finished yet. It looks as though you have similar interests to myself with the crafts, I also like to dabble in most things, and same as you probably started with pressed flowers also. I hope we get to chat some more. Val

drinking iced tea and visiting with her Mother. As
they talked about life, about marriage, about the
responsibilities of life and the obligations of
adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her
glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance
upon her daughter
'Don't forget your Sisters,' she advised, swirling
the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. 'They'll
be more important as you get older. No matter how
much you love your husband, no matter how much you
love the children you may have, you are still going
to need Sisters. Remember to go places with them now
and then; do things with them.'
'Remember that 'Sisters' means ALL the women...
your girlfriends, your daughters, and all your other
women relatives too. 'You'll need other women. Women
always do.'
What a funny piece of advice!' the young woman
thought. Haven't I just gotten married?
Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a
married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surely
my husband and the family we may start will be all I
need to make my life worthwhile!'
But she listened to her Mother. She kept contact
with her Sisters and made more women friends each
year. As the years tumbled by, one after another,
she gradually came to understand that her Mom really
knew what she was talking about. As time and nature
work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman,
Sisters are the mainstays of her life..
After more than 50 years of living in this world,
here is what I've learned:
THIS SAYS IT ALL:
Time passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Children grow up.
Jobs come and go.
Love waxes and wanes.
Men don't do what they're supposed to do.
Hearts break.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favors.
Careers end.
BUT.........
Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how
many miles are
between you. A girl friend is never farther away
than needing her can reach.
When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you
have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life
will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on,
praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on
your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the
valley's end.
Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk
beside you...Or come in and carry you out.
Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters,
daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers,
Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended
family, all bless our life!
The world wouldn't be the same without women, and
neither would I. When we began this adventure called
womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or
sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we
would need each other.
Every day, we need each other still. Pass this on
to all the women who help make your life meaningful.
I just did. Short and very sweet:
There are more than twenty angels in this world.
Ten are peacefully sleeping on clouds. Nine are
playing. And one is reading her email at this
moment.
Hope that not too much, thought nice.
Welcome..............
